Those of you who quit your banks and went over to credit unions (or those of you who've been with credit unions all along)--which one did you choose, and why? Do you recommend yours?
I have pretty uncomplicated needs--a decent internet interface, a debit card, access to cash, and a way of depositing cheques. And some sort of protection against stolen or hacked cards, preferably.
Any advice, suggestions, or amusing diversions?

Credit Union
I live in New Mexico. I am with Mountain America Credit Union - but they only serve Rocky Mountain and west coast. I have been with them since 2002. I only get to the branch about once very six weeks. They still greet me by name. What few fees there are cheap compared to what the banks are charging.
For some reason I have it in my head that you are on the east coast, or in NYC. I don't know if this is helpful, or just TMI... but I heard a report about this credit union on NPR the other day and it made me wish that I lived in NY so I could join:

Lower East Side Peoples Federal Credit Union.
Hope that you find a solution that works for you.
