Ms JK needs a desk editor. Several. I know the more she writes the higher the Potterjunkies get, but I think her writing's got a lot worse.
I wish she'd be more realistic about ink bottles. You really don't get through that much ink unless you're dreadfully careless. And why does Hermione not have ethical problems with the school's use of parchment? A whole school using parchment for every written activity? Unless they have a "Palimpsesto" spell or some such. And why is it that every time anyone has a glass of something it comes out of a dusty bottle? JK seems to be a bit hard up for adjectives.
I'm hardly one to criticise, that said - this morning, trying to write about scrolls with parts missing, I found myself half-asleep writing about paper sacks of detergent. Didn't really fit into the argument all that well. Then reading gemara on the way home, some stuff about the various categories of work forbidden on Shabbat turned into an interview with various film stars. I don't even like film stars.
