In no particular order:

When we were doing havdalah tonight, the flames in the bowl of burning vodka, which are normally blue, licked over the edge of the bowl and burned turquoise. I don't know what was on the bowl to cause this, but it was very pretty.

We've just made a huge spreadsheet of all the articles (from journals, etc. In the sense of "essays") we have between us. Now we know what we've got! and where to find it!

At lunchtime it was a nice day outside, but we're 100000 miles from any green spaces (well, not quite, but too far to walk), so we got a cloth and spread it on the bed and had a picnic there. We had to pretend there were trees and flowers, but it was a nice picnic, all the same.

Hey, I was right. I found a responsum which contains a refutation of one of the parts of my argument. So now I have to construct a careful rationale as to why that refutation doesn't apply to my particular case (because on the face of it you might think it does...but that wouldn't be helpful, so I need to show it doesn't...). Plugging through all those 100+ responsa was worth it!

I'm such a muppet

It's sort of latish, and I'm piddling about online. I see a chum on IM. I know he's in Israel so he's probably asleep and just left his computer on. But, think I, what time is it in Israel, actually? Must be morning. Hey, if it's morning, I can watch the Kotel, haven't done that in a while. Hop to Kotel cam site. Hmm, not many people there, just a few clusters. Hop to different camera with close-up view. Yeah, really not many people. But it looks like morning, why aren't there hordes of people doing morning prayers?

The muppet in me pulls up the program that tells me what the halachic time of day is anywhere on the planet. I see that in Jerusalem there's still half an hour to pass before anyone will be doing morning prayers.

I seriously contemplate staying up to watch.
