We moved house. Our entire establishment fits into a fourteen-foot U-haul rather neatly; W and I accomplished this between us in an eight-hour stint in the morning (fuelled only by Rice Krispies and chocolate). W's colleague C drove the van to Riverdale, and when we got there, a fleet of Chovevei boys helped unload and hump everything upstairs. This took two hours only. We were glad to have the help. It didn't rain really, it was just misty, which was a perfect balance to the heat generated by hefting heavy stuff.
Of course we haven't finished imposing order on the internal chaos, and there's a gas-leak so we can't use the stove, but it's very nice, all the same. It took half an hour (one train) instead of two hours (four trains) to get to class this afternoon, and in imposing order during the morning, I learned that we have far more storage space than before. We won't have to use the linen cupboard as a pantry any more! and my working space is no longer in the bedroom! And we are on a hillside facing across the valley, so we can see the sky, which I like.
