calendar quiz

Frederica was born Jewish. Her Hebrew birthday is 30 Cheshvan. This year, she celebrates her eleventh Hebrew birthday. Why?

Calendar geeks please to come out of woodwork and explain this. I know some of you adore this sort of problem.

Short answer - in addition to the famous Adar II both Kislev and Cheshvan may be either 29 or 30 days in length. The longest Jewish year, which IIRC happens once in 19 years, is when you have 2 months of Adar and Cheshvan and Kislev are both 'full'. The shortest year also happens 1 time in 19.
