a Sad and Serious post

hotshot2000's grandpa died this weekend. It's easy to get distracted at these sorts of times, so there's a possibility he may have forgotten to email some people. So, I'm blogging his email, so that anyone who didn't get it can read it here.

It is with great sadness that I inform you about the passing of my grandfather, Meyer Zuber, Meir Yaakov ben Eser Aryeh ve-Pesel, on Sunday morning. I was very close to my grandfather; we lived in the same apartment and he raised me as a son my entire life. Although his health had been waning for the past few years, his death had not been imminent; he suddenly, rapidly, and unexpectedly declined over the past month. I cherish the time I had with him and will miss him greatly.

Your presence at the funeral would be a great comfort to me and my family. The service will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at 12:15PM at:
Sinai Chapels
162-05 Horace Harding Expressway
Fresh Meadows, NY 11365

It is accessible by car and by public transportation -- take the 7 to Flushing followed by the Q65 towards 164th St., or the E/F to Forest Hills, followed by the Q65A to 164th St. (last stop), and walk or take the Q65 down 164th St. to HHE.

The interment will take place at Beth Moses Cemetery on Pinelawy Road in Farmingdale, Long Island. We have some concern about making a minyan at the burial; if you have time and a car, your help would be greatly appreciated.

I know that some of you are already planning to be there: thank you. Mourning rituals need quorums, and the thing about making it to 94 is that you don't necessarily have so many friends and relations who are able to come and make the quorum. It's really a huge bummer for a grieving family if they can't do the mourning properly for lack of communal support; it means an awful lot to hotshot2000 that people are planning to be there.
