Shabbat was mostly sleeping again. But I did some Virtuous Reading in the afternoon, stuff I'd been meaning to read on many previous Shabbats but had been too tired.
Sunday was pretty nice and relaxed - we hung out with W's dad in the morning, and in the afternoon I had a lesson with my Hanukah bat mitzvah, who is doing pretty well considering she does 0 practising. In between times I got some Megillah done, and some good chunks of essay. I find that when I'm working through an argument it's a heck of a lot easier to do it using mathematical symbols, so it all looks like RT:W(Mg)/T which means "if a woman writes a megillah it's kosher according to Rabeinu Tam" or whatever. It's faster, and easier to keep track of. So I was mostly translating that sort of stuff and Venn diagrams into words, having sorted out the structure using symbols. And in the evening MJNH came over and argued with W about repentance.
Today MJNH kidnapped me and we went to the beach. I'd been thinking about working, and so had she, but she most intelligently saw that we'd get the same amount of work done if we went to the beach plus it would be healthy outdoor recreation. We went to Jones Beach, which was surprisingly empty given that it's a lovely warm holiday weekend. We did lots of swimming and eating and more swimming, it was jolly jolly nice, and I've now got a bag of sand, so I can experiment with tempering quills using hot sand.
