Did you notice there's been no Torah news lately? 'S cos I've been holed up working on a ketubah. I'm rather pleased with it.
I mean, just because it's rather nice would be enough, but in particular:
I almost never do human figures. I prefer to do grotesques, because if they go horribly wrong you can say you meant it that way, which you can't when you're trying to do real people. But these ones turned out nicely, and they even have faces with the sorts of expressions I was after. And I did them all by myself. Yay me!
And the illuminated first letter has that yummy 3-D effect in the border, which was basically accidental but is extremely pleasing nonetheless.
That thing on the right is the sort of genre I was working in, just so's you don't think this is all original.
