I am having a BAD QUILL DAY and I want to scream and shout and throw things. It was going really well a little while ago, thus: there's a way of cutting your quill so that you get these beautiful little crescents on the left-hand end of your horizontals. The original scribe of the Torah I'm currently working on made his letters with these little crescents, and I'm trying to match them in my restoration, but it's slow because I don't know how to cut the special crescent quill and I have to draw them all in separately (or not bother).

And then this morning, totally by accident, I cut a quill that did crescents PERFECTLY. This happens occasionally. I can never replicate it. It was lovely for a few hours, and then I had to sharpen it, and it just wasn't the same after that, and then it just got worse and worse and wouldn't even make straight lines, let alone crescents.
