SQUEE!
Flew to St Louis latelate Tuesday (via Penn Station, which is the most monumentally unhelpful station EVER), and got collected and parked in a hotel, very cosy. Unpacked case; realised with horror that smart interview blouse was still hanging neatly in the bedroom. Improvised with white t-shirt originally intended for sub-blouse warmth, hotel iron, and attitude. 8.30 breakfast interview with a co-chair of the steering committee, two rabbis, and the project co-ordinator. Tour of shul. Shul quite amazing; lovely building, and evidence of masses of participation on all levels - apparently membership is not growing in numbers but it's growing in involvement; don't you know so many shuls which would practically kill for that? 10.15 interview with other co-chair, treasurer, one of the first two rabbis, pre-school director, education director, outgoing board president, incoming board president, general education director, program co-ordinator. Talked about Me for a bit, and about Writing, and got them to talk a bit about Visions and Integration, and they didn't ask very many questions, which was a bit unnerving. 11.30ish parked politely in the library (with computers and internet, noch) so that they could talk about me, on the basis that I'd probably prefer a decision sooner rather than later. Time passes. Wobbly tummy. How can they be taking that long to decide? Turns out they'd been looking for me all over the place because I'd been concealed behind a stand of Chanukah stories. Apparently have caused favourable impression and feeling that I am an Excellent Fit. All jolly good. Lunch in kosher deli (bison burger. Well, it was there. Tasted like a cross between beef and ham). Back to airport. Tell whole world.
