Hi! I'm here from a pointer recently posted on Making Light. I hope you don't mind.

I agree that it would be neat to put the whole megilla on a single giraffe skin. Speculating about it reminds me of a thread on soc.culture.jewish, many years ago, about the difficulties of schecting a giraffe. It's apparently easy to find the right place (in theory, if a person could get the giraffe to hold still.) The group concluded that a giraffe is so skittish it would die of fright, making it non-kosher, even if the schochet was extremely fast up the ladder. Looking up now, I see giraffes raised in captivity tolerate being handled by people...so I have reached the new conclusion that I don't know. I wanted to share it with you anyhow.
