Mishnah, Shabbat 6:10
One may go out (on Shabbat) with a locust’s egg, a fox’s tooth, or a nail from the gallows for a cure, according to Rabbi Meir. The Sages say, even on a weekday this is forbidden, because it is the way of the Amorites.

So Rabbi Meir is willing to give anything a go, even on shabbat, while the Sages say you can't try it any time, cos it's naughty superstition...

On the other hand (6:2):
One may not go out...with an amulet, unless it has been recommended by a specialist.

Clearly it's just those quack cures you can't break shabbat for.
