This shabbat we went to the place where Will's going to be working as visiting rabbi. It's a jolly long way - an hour and ten minutes on feet - and all right at 7.45am, but the trek back at noon was, shall we say, taxing. When we got there it was, as expected, an assisted living building, and the congregation was partly American women who could speak English, and partly Russian men, who basically couldn't. They also only speak prayerbook Hebrew, so conversing in Hebrew isn't an option. And we don't know Yiddish. So that should be interesting, anyway. He starts properly the week after next.
Flathunting continues apace. I think we have somewhere almost lined up now, a nice place where the kitchen and living room are basically the same thing. Lots of places have a sort of dismal galley which is the kitchen, wherein one person can cook, if they're thin and not too bothered about elbow room.
