havdalah

Doing it over vodka is very good. After you're finished, you pour the vodka into a dish and put the candle out in it. If you do it right, you set light to the vodka, and it burns with a blue flame for ages and ages.

This set me thinking. If you soak a wick in, say, copper sulphate, and let it dry, and then use it in an oil lamp, do you get a blue flame? Same for the other fun colours, which I forget cos it's been too long since I did chemistry. Somebody tell me in time for Chanukah, imagine how cool it would be to have a row of nine candles all with different coloured flames.
