So today I wrote from nine until twelve or thereabouts, and then took a break for faffing, eating, sleeping (I never remember just how dumb it is to have pasta for lunch), and going to the bank, and then wrote again from four through eight. And got a column and a half done. This is good. A column and a half in seven hours is a good sort of pace.

Some of the faffing was looking at illuminations, to be fair. I want to do it with Persian borders like you get in Qurans. They aren't really paying me enough to justify that kind of sumptuousness, but I really want to do it anyway. It'd be so cool.

ETA: Waaaah! I really, really want to do Persian borders. I want someone to come along and give me lots of money so I can make a really utterly gorgeous megillah.

It occurs to me to wonder: just how exactly is bird flu transmitted? By having lots of goose feathers around the place, am I Putting My Household At Risk? According to Auntie Google, the answer is probably no, not unless they've got poo or other runny stuff on them. Worth bearing in mind, given that I tend to collect feathers if I see them lying around, and given that there's a fair chance bird flu will have reached the UK by the next time I'm there. Honestly, the things I never thought would be considerations for my job increase steadily.
