Another trip to Brooklyn today for more supplies. It took rather longer than I expected, because I knew how to get to the shop from the station, but unfortunately forgot whch station it was. Consequently, I wandered around for about an hour and a half until W phoned, after which I knew where I was going and just had to shlep there. It was snowing. It was very pretty. 13th Avenue is LONG. I know, I walked nearly all the way along it. The guys in the klaf shop are very nice, I can't help wondering what they'd say if I told them I was buying it for me. I'll try it one day, but not until I have an alternative supplier lined up!
I have the most superest new toy EVER. It's a mechanical eraser, with a super-abrasive erasing part. I can use it to erase mistakes from my parchment. It makes a whizzing noise like a drill, and shaves off all the ink part, and leaves the parchment nearly as smooth as it was before. It's SO much better than using a scalpel. Scalpels leave the surface all scratchy, and it's a beast to write on afterwards. The eraser is yummy; the only difference is that the grain of the parchment is every which way instead of all the same direction, but it's super-smooth, so it doesn't matter. I feel professional :)
