flights
We went to the travel agent to get flights out of Israel. We have open-date returns, and want to fly out at the end of May. Well, the travel agent tears herself away from her conversation with a colleague, rearranges her chewing gum, and looks at her computer - she has nothing in May. She has nothing in June. She has July 14th. Or May 4th. Nothing in between.
Could we perhaps get a refund and use it to buy new flights, we asked. No, there is no way we can have a refund, apparently. We will have to buy totally new flights. For both parts of the journey.
Well, this wasn't very appealing. So, when you get screwed around by an Israeli customer service person, what do you do? You call America. The America office a) cancelled the tickets b) didn't charge a cancellation fee c) booked us new flights on appropriate dates for no extra money d) was incredibly quick and polite about it.
(mind you, I wouldn't have minded May 4th really - I can't wait to get out of here.)
