Oh, gorgeous! I was photographed for Women of Reform Judaism's 2009 calendar. The photographer was seriously good - v artistic, v efficient, v impressive. So I emailed her some Barbie pics because they're my attempt at proper photography - and what do you know, she loves them already, but hadn't realised it was me. How amusing is that? Hurrah coincidence!

Cooked with onions for the first time in about six weeks. Normal service may resume shortly. I'm even contemplating making apple pie, since it's apple season and there's a farmers' market right outside Drisha.

The shops here are filling up with great big thick chunky clothes. It's October and it's still boiling out (86F today); if last year's anything to go by, it's going to stay pleasantly warm until January, when it might get a little bit chilly for a few days. What do I want with a six-inch-thick sweater? Fashion seriously needs to face up to global warming. Those in parts of the USA where it doesn't really do winter, what's in the shops by you?
